120-Hour On-Site Certification

4-Week Onsite Course Content
I. Foreign Language Experience
The trainee will complete a daily learning journal during the foreign language experience. The focus is upon critical reflection on the learning experience and useful insights for teaching.
II. Language Awareness
· Grammar: Inputs cover word classes, simple sentence elements, complex sentences and clauses, verb time and tense, aspect and conditionals and modals, phrasal’s and voice.
· Phonology: Covering: phonemics, rhythm, stress, intonation, place & manner of articulation and connected speech.
III. Student Profile
Trainees work with individual students on rapport-building, error analysis and correction and addressing individual student needs. Three meetings with the student are required including transcription and error analysis of audio and written samples, culminating in a 60-minute session observed by a trainer.

VI. Material’s Project
English teaching jobs are relatively easy to find in Colombia, if English is your native tongue, and you have a TEFL certificate. The Colombian government has recently legislated that all university graduates must have studied some formal English lessons so EFL teachers are on demand!
Everyone dreams of getting a job by the beautiful Caribbean, while sipping Piña Coladas in a hammock under a beach palm on the weekends. For some, this is a reality!
The easiest and fastest place to find a teaching job is in one of the many small independent colleges or “English Clubs” that are found in all the major suburbs of Cartagena.
Private lessons are easy to set up and it’s important to protect yourself by working smartly in terms of collecting your pay. Rates go up to $15 an hour.
Primary, secondary and tertiary education institutes pay the best and actively recruit at job fairs overseas. Contract conditions may vary; however, and you are well advised to check them before you sign your contract. Many have a clause which allows the school to vary the hours taught (i.e., upwards). Some even specify after-school and Saturday lessons. Some schools pay an hourly rate for after-school work or extra hours, others do not.
One of the main benefits of living in Colombia is the low cost of living. And what’s more, it’s a low cost of living in a country that offers many of the first-world amenities and infrastructure that you’d expect in a much more expensive location.
Most of our students use Airbnb (visit https://www.airbnb.com) to arrange their own accommodation while taking the course. You can find housing in apartments, hostels, or single rooms at very affordable prices. The benefits of using this App is that you get to see different photos, read reviews of the place, a map to see the distance from the school, and you can talk to the owner directly.
Alternatively, we will gladly assist you set up your housing with an additional fee of $150 USD (plus the cost of the accommodation).
How much should I budget per month?
If you’re renting an unfurnished apartment, you will spend approximately $1,700 USD per month.
How is the weather in Cartagena?
Cartagena’s climate is typically Caribbean; its average annual temperature of 28°C changes very little. Although the days are hot, a fresh breeze blows in the evening, making this a pleasant time to stroll around the city. Theoretically, the driest period is from December to April, while October and November are the wettest months.
